![]() ![]() ![]() This opened the door for a lot of intriguing concepts. ![]() The world throws plenty of curveballs at her, to the point that it makes her start to question previous attachments to the cafe and how she can move on with Clara’s help. I felt so bad for Sal throughout the course of the story. ![]() Naturally, there’s a lot of potential for conflict with this setup, and man, does it deliver. In comes Clara, an AI technician that becomes a regular at her shop and takes an interest in her. Sal outlived her old master who left the cafe with her, and her goal is to keep the lights on for as long as she can to honour their dream. Sal is one of the last robots of her kind, and one that’s been vilified for ages due to general fears and robotic rights not catching up with her. The backdrop for this world is that sapient autonomous robots have long since been retired and Raises have taken their place as sentient AI with less autonomy. But beyond that, what really resonated with me were the themes of humanity, autonomy, and grief that popped up throughout the story, and how they manifested in Sal’s character. A slice of life story featuring an ace F/F romance that will give you the warm fuzzies just like a cup of… well, take a guess. I can definitely make it any more obvious than that, but anyway, The Cybernetic Tea Shop is the engaging read I needed during this chaotic year. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() “Writing a book is a horrible, exhausting struggle, like a long bout with some painful illness.(Book) “ Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World In Our Time” by Carroll Quigley (Book) “ Tragedy and Hope 101: The Illusion of Justice, Freedom and Democracy” by Joseph Plummer. The Deep End: Interview with Joseph Plummer: Episode Notes ![]() To Learn more, search the History Blueprint as you digest this interview: The Deep End episode 006 features an interview with author Joseph Plummer on his recent book “Tragedy and Hope 101: The Illusion of Justice, Freedom and Democracy” which summarizes Carroll Quigley’s “The Anglo-American Establishment” and “Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time”.
